Mother Helen T. Martin

Mother Helen T. Martin received her secondary education in both the public and private school systems. She graduated from Alcorn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and furthered her education with a Master’s degree from Jackson State University in Elementary Education. She also received her 50th year Golden Diploma from Alcorn State University in 2003. She was destined to become a teacher, mainly because she hails from a strong background in education. Her mother taught for many years in the Jackson Public School System, and Mother Martin followed in her footsteps and taught for thirty-four years. She is an advocate of children gaining a top-notch education and being the best they can be in academics.

Mother Martin supports her son, Dr. Alfred Martin, as he funds Church Academic Scholarships in honor of her late mother, Mrs. Anna Taylor, and one in her honor to support Elementary Education Majors who are members of the MS Southern First Jurisdiction. These scholarships are available each year for qualified applicants.
